James Brock is a world percussionist, drummer, and creative director based in North Carolina, whose work is rooted in the unifying power of rhythm and global collaboration. As the founder of Global Music United – James Brock & Band of Peace, he leads an international collective of musicians from across Africa, the Middle East, Asia, and beyond, bringing together diverse traditions in a shared expression of harmony and human connection.
With over 20 years as a professional musician, James has built a career as both a live performer and sought-after session player, collaborating with well over 100 different groups across a wide range of musical styles. His playing draws from a global palette of instruments—including nagara, udu, frame drums, kanjira, and organic nature textures—blending traditional techniques with contemporary sensibilities. Guided by a philosophy that rhythm is the body, melody the soul, and space the spirit, his work creates immersive musical experiences that transcend cultural boundaries and bring people together through sound.
